How our winter drive reached 450 families

On the coldest week of the year, twenty-two volunteers split into five teams and covered the bus stand, the railway platform, and two construction sites after dark. We carried 470 quilts and came back with eleven left over.

What worked

• Local scouts. Two shopkeepers near the bus stand walked ahead of each team and told us exactly where families slept.
• One-page lists. Every team carried a printed checklist so nothing was handed twice and nothing was missed.

What we will change

We started at 9 pm and finished close to midnight. The next drive begins right after dinner, and we will add a fourth team for the canal-side shelters we did not reach this time.
